 To All,

Oh, well, that's what one gets when one relies upon the folks at Animal Planet for news photos on any one particular day. But given the true nature of the candidates, perhaps Senator Obama should refrain from any "Wild Kingdom"- like ripostes in the future. Otherwise he may just "boar" us all to death before November finally arrives.

In other news:

It seems we missed one...:

One of the more memorable lines spoken by actor, and NRA Boardmember, Tom Selleck in the movie "Quigley Down Under", goes like this"

"...We already run all the misfits outta our country. We sent 'em back to England...".

Yet it seems that despite the actuality of that act of independence, an "emo-like" comic going by the name of Russell Brand feels like he can cross the pond and dictate electoral policy and criticism to voters in the Land of the Free and Home of the Well-Armed.

Now, it seems that things have changed quite a bit since Benny Hill used to entertain we colonials on late night syndication. But who would have thought that the latest version of the "British Invasion" involved a guy whose hair style makes George Clinton (Of Parliament-Funkadelic fame) look like he was coiffed by Christoffe?

Perhaps Judge Chertoff can check this guy's visa for irregularities. Surely Brand can be at least quarantined for the traditional 30 days that one normally sees with other contagious livestock, before he is allowed to avail himself of an implied First Amendment right to insult us to our faces. In any case, he deserves deportation alone for making such a strong run at winning Mr. Blackwell's ire for 2009. On the eve of the anniversary of 9-11, perhaps Homeland Security can finally demonstrate that they truly have a handle on things. Stay tuned.

Wait Fer It:

Mary Beth Sheridan writes at the Washington Post about the scheduling this week of legislation that would overturn some of the more egregious aspects of the DC Handgun ban that remain despite Heller.

DC continues to ban semiautomatic pistols (No Olympic shooting gold medalists in residence, eh Mayor Fenty?) by purposefully confusing them with machine guns. What is more, DC is still trying to pass regulations that would still make it quite difficult to defend oneself (so-called "safe storage" regs) or transport the firearm to the gunsmith without police escort.

Like drilling for domestic sources of petroleum, Lady Pelosi is confronted with a goodly number of her caucus that wants to get the "little gold star" from Chris Cox in time for the November Elections. Given that all hunting photo-ops with Sarah Palin are booked past next Memorial Day, this legislation may be the only way that members of the House AND the Senate can get in the good graces of 4 million NRA Members-cum-voters prior to November.

In any case, given that Morton Grove is possibly changing it's local gun ban laws to comport with possession permissible under Illinois state law, DC is rapidly running out of Official Antigun Sister Cities still located within US borders to commiserate with. While this is as it should be, given that gunowners and hunters want all of their civil liberties restored posthaste, the egregious delays engineered by Mayor Fenty and the DC Council are intolerable to say the least. That gunowners and hunters had to go to Congress in the first place indicates that the city leadership in DC is incompetent at best. Congress should perhaps rethink the whole "home rule" thing as far as DC goes, unless the Fenty Bunch changes course soon. Stay tuned.

Theological Question Of The Week:

How many bishops and arch-bishops can dance on the head of a pin(head)? Or, in this case, two?

Julia Duin writes at the Washington Times about the continuing saga of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Joe Biden, whose attempts to bring new meaning to the phrase "papal bull" have run afoul of Catholic teachings on life beginning at conception.

So far, 11 bishops have come out and danced "The Vatican Rag" on the forelocks of Pelosi and Biden. Now all that remains is for them to complete 6 million "Hail Mary's", and 5 million "Our Fathers", and perhaps they will refrain from speaking for the Church in the future.
